About
Mission and Vision Statement
The overall mission of Manzanita Outreach is to honor Christ through service to others by improving the nutritional health status of individuals worldwide.
Manzanita Outreach is a not for profit 501 C 3 organization
formed in 2011 by Kim Gould and Karen Freeman. This organization was started
after Kim and Karen witnessed the effects of widespread malnutrition and
starvation in Jubilee and Gonaives, Haiti.
Once formed, Manzanita Outreach partnered with Kids Against Hunger, Inc., an
organization with a proven history of having a positive impact on the
nutritional status of malnutrition in poverty-stricken parts of the world.
In April of 2011 Manzanita Outreach held the first Kids Against Hunger packing event. Since
then we have packaged and distributed over 600,000 meals to Haiti and locally.
Additionally, members of our organization have built relationships in Gonaives
and Jubilee and have supported ministry efforts that have successfully built a
school, medical clinic, community garden, and trade school.
Historically we have sent 85% of our packaged meals to Haiti
and distributed 15% locally. Recently we have become sensitive to the needs of
our community, and this year we are excited to begin packaging a product
designed for local distribution. Our aim is to send 50% of our meals to Haiti
and distribute 50% locally. These meals will be provided to food banks,
schools, churches, seniors, veterans, and anyone else in need.
